5 Things I Would Want to See In a New Gamera Film

Image
In a recent post , I said I wanted to see Gamera return, perhaps in the Monsterverse. But it would also be great for Gamera to come back and star in his own series of new films. So here are the top five things I would want to see in  new Gamera film(s). 5 - A Badass Design The Gamera 3 design is the most badass looking kaiju ever. I want to see this type of look for him again. He looked pretty mean in Gamera vs. Barugon too. In Gamera the Brave he looked too soft and cute and cuddly. 4 - Underwater Battles He's a turtle, there should be more battles in the water. I read that originally Kaneko envisioned an underwater fight for Gamera 3 but then it was changed to an air battle, but some of the scenes from the air fight against Iris could have worked very well underwater. Gamera fought the shark kaiju Zigra underwater in the 70's but with modern technology I feel we could get a much better battle. 3 - Return of Old Kaiju The return of old kaiju besides Gyaos. Gyaos is great but

Were Sauropod Dinosaurs Two-legged?

Image
For those who don't know, sauropods were a type of dinosaur that had extremely long necks and tails who walked on all-fours like big elephants. But what if sauropod dinosaurs were actually two-legged? A  2019 study  provides evidence that they possibly were. The study says, "Three parallel, manus-only[front feet] sauropod trackways from the Coffee Hollow A-Male tracksite (Glen Rose Formation, Kendall County, Texas) were studied separately by researchers from the Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country and the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences. Footprint and trackway measurements generally show good agreement between the two groups’ data sets. Footprints appear to be shallowly impressed true tracks rather than undertracks.  One of the Coffee Hollow trackways shows marked asymmetry in the lengths of paces that begin with the left as opposed to the right forefoot, and two of the Coffee Hollow trackways are unusually broad. The Coffee Hollow trackways differ enough from the ma

Pentagon Investigated Werewolf Incident at Skin-walker Ranch

Pentagon Investigated  Werewolf Incident at Skin-walker Ranch It has long been known that the Pentagon is interested in cases of "Unexplained Flying Objects" or UFO's, but if you dig deeper you will find that the government has investigated all sorts of bizarre paranormal phenomenon, including werewolves at the infamous "Skin-walker Ranch." According to Native American  legends & lore a skin-walker is a, "type of harmful witch who has the ability to turn into, possess, or disguise themselves as an animal."[1] In an article published on military.com, Travis Tritten[2] writes,  "In early 2009, Lacatski and Kelleher sent a sailor whom they described as a senior engineer in naval intelligence, on a four-and-a-half month investigation of witnesses and evidence in the Nimitz case. That work would remain secret for years before being leaked by others. After the Nimitz investigation, the sailor and two Marines were sent to a Utah property known as

Top 5 Kaiju I Want to See in the Monsterverse

Image
With the announcement of a sequel to the much loved Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) there is a lot of talk about what other monsters should be featured in movies. Here are the top five that I want to see! Number 5: Ebirah - The giant lobster Ebirah would be great to see in a new monsterverse film, especially one with Kong in it since the film (Godzilla vs. The  Sea Monster a.k.a. Ebirah! Horror of the Deep) was supposed to feature Kong instead. We could finally see the two of them duke it out as was originally intended. Plus it would be nice to see a battle that takes place partially underwater, though maybe that part would be better if it were against Godzilla instead. Number 4: Titanosaurus - The dinosaur kaiju whose only appearance so far is Terror of Mechagodzilla, making him and Megalon the only Showa-era kaiju not featured in a sequel. Jet Jaguar and a version of Gabara were featured in the  Singular Point anime. I love Titanosaurus, he looks really cool. His wind-tail attack is very

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World: Movie Edition (Illustrated)

Image
In 1912, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, famous for creating the Sherlock Holmes character, published The Lost World . An action-adventure novel that  details the adventure of the reporter Edward Malone, Professor Challenger, big game hunter Lord John Roxton, and more as they encounter living dinosaurs, ape-men, and other frightful beasts in the remote amazon rainforest. Original Movie Poster for The Lost World. This special version is entitled " Movie Edition " because it features many pictures, most of which come from the critically-acclaimed 1925 film that pioneered the use of stop-motion animation which would later be used in King Kong . In fact, Kong and most others dinosaur movies from Beast of 20,000 Fathoms to  Godzilla were heavily inspired by this, even Jurassic Park ! The entrance to Jurassic Park. Here is a sample: " I stood like a man paralyzed, still staring at the ground which I had traversed. Then suddenly I saw it. There was movement among the bushes at the

King Kong's 89th Anniversary!

King Kong fighting an Allosaurus, foreshadowing his fight with Godzilla. Picture: Public Domain via Wikimedia Commons. Today, March 2nd 2022, makes 89 years since the original King Kong dazzled movie-goers clear back in 1933, two days before FDR was inaugurated as the 32nd president of the United States. (It is also the creator of Kong, Willis O' Brien's birthday!) The original classic is by far the best of all the Kong films, one of the best giant monster movies, and perhaps the greatest dinosaur film of all time. Enough praise cannot possibly be heaped onto this film. It was a huge inspiration for everything that came afterwards. Without King Kong , no Ray Harryhausen, no Beast from 20,000 Fathoms , no Godzilla, Gamera, or kaiju. In fact, Hollywood and cinema itself would probably be different. King Kong was a pioneer in the genre of "special effects" films. It paved the way for everything from Jaws to Star Wars and was a major inspiration to millions working i
